The simple answer is: It's YOUR yard, and you should cut your grass to whatever height YOU want!
While there are a few guidelines and best practices, ultimately, how you want your yard to look is a personal choice based on your aesthetic and/or practical factors.
If anyone tells you you're wrong about what you're doing, or gives you a one size fits all model, heads up! They're probably not being very thoughtful or listening to you very well.
We would NEVER do that. :)
With that said...here's a few guidelines:
The ideal height to cut your grass can vary depending on factors like grass type, climate, and personal preference. However, a general rule of thumb is to aim for a height of around 2.5 to 3 inches (6 to 8 centimeters) for most types of grass.
Cutting too short can stress the grass and make it more susceptible to weeds, pests, and diseases. On the other hand, letting the grass grow too tall can lead to a thatch buildup and promote fungal growth.
It's also good to follow the "one-third rule," which means you should never remove more than one-third of the grass blade's height in a single mowing session. This helps maintain a healthy lawn by not stressing the grass excessively.
Ultimately, it's a good idea to research the specific type of grass you have in your lawn and consult us for tailored advice based on your preferences and goals.
